Our Journey six years down the memory lane

The Women Business Hub (WBH) Advocacy Alliance Consortium traces its evolution from a small grassroots initiative in 2019 to a regional movement driving women’s empowerment across Western Kenya. Catalyzed by Urgent Action Fund–Africa, WBH formally registered in 2020 and rapidly expanded to 14 counties, uniting 5,000 women in 150 rural groups. Through the establishment of Inua Village SACCO, WBH built a sustainable financial ecosystem that strengthens livelihoods and fosters resilience among women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Today, WBH stands as a community-owned platform transforming local advocacy into regional impact across the Lake Region Economic Bloc.

Why it is important to strengthen the Systems of community based organizations

Community organizations and networks are uniquely positioned to interact with affected communities, respond quickly to community needs and issues, and engage with affected and vulnerable groups. They offer direct services to communities while also advocating for better programming and policy environments. This allows them to influence the development, reach, implementation, and oversight of public systems and policies, as well as the contribution of a community to health.
