Self-Reliance Empowerment and Enterprise Development for Poor Families (SEED4PF) is a household food security and Self-employment initiative being piloted to provide result-oriented outcome for designing an intervention that can be adopted among poor families in Kenya to address food insecurity and unemployment which is affecting many women and youth. This pilot phase is targeting 100 poor households with a practical learning on Agripreneurship. The project is introducing climate smart modern vegetable farming technology coupled with strengthening market value chain. the project is targeting women and youth because they are the majority with no source of income. SEED4PF project is being supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Vertical vegetable farming is a method of cultivating vegetables in vertically stacked or vertically inclined layers. It is a way that enables landless families to contribute to food security.  This unique farming method has the potential to lower food prices while also maintaining nutritional health in women-headed households in a variety of ways. Its successful implementation requires access to appropriate technology, training, and an initial investment. Furthermore, supportive policies and community participation may be important to ensuring the long-term success of such programs.  

Regenerative Agriculture in Family Farming for Resilience and Sustainable Living

Regenerative agriculture is a farming method that aims to improve soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience. It aims to repair degraded land, sequester carbon, and sustainably boost agricultural productivity. As climate change provides enormous difficulties to agriculture, involving youth in regenerative agriculture will be a feasible strategy to lessen its effects and improve sustainable food production. Women Business Hub is developing regenerative agriculture in western Kenya by collaborating with women, youth, and non-binary individuals.   Women Business Hub educates young people about the value of regenerative agriculture and its role in combatting climate change.
