You-RISE Industries, a vision for Transforming Kenya’s Youth into a Skilled, Inclusive and Prosperous Workforce

Learn. Work. Prosper.

Kenya stands at a defining moment in its development journey. With one of the youngest populations in Africa, the country possesses immense human potential. Yet many young people, particularly young women and persons with disabilities (PWDs), continue to face unemployment, limited access to technical skills, and barriers to economic participation. Our ambition of setting up You-RISE Industries Limited presents a bold and practical solution to this challenge. It is not just a corporate identity or a training initiative; it is a transformative movement designed to convert untapped potential into productive economic power.

Centered on the vision of "Transforming unemployed female and PWD youth into skilled industrial workforce and entrepreneurs," You-RISE will offer a pathway from dependency to self-reliance, from exclusion to inclusion, and from poverty to prosperity.

Why it is Game Changer for Young People in Kenya

Our slogan of "Learn • Work • Prosper" captures the complete journey that many youths desperately need. Traditional approaches have often focused only on education or short-term employment opportunities. You-RISE goes further by creating an integrated model where young people acquire practical industrial skills, gain work experience, participate in production, and eventually become entrepreneurs and job creators in a well-coordinated sustainable employment ecosystem.

You-RISE prepare youth for industrial careers, symbolizing confidence, competence, and opportunity. This is particularly important in Kenya, where industries frequently report a shortage of skilled labor while thousands of young people remain unemployed. You-RISE bridges this gap by aligning skills development with real market needs. Rather than preparing youth for jobs that do not exist, the initiative equips them with competencies that directly support manufacturing, welding, fabrication, industrial production, and enterprise development. As a result, young people become valuable contributors to the economy and are empowered to build sustainable livelihoods.

Why You-RISE is a Powerful Tool for Poverty Alleviation

Poverty is often perpetuated by lack of skills, limited economic opportunities, and dependence on external support. You-RISE addresses these root causes simultaneously.

When a young person gains technical skills, secures employment, or starts a business, the impact extends far beyond the individual. Increased incomes improve household welfare, enhance food security, support education for younger siblings, and strengthen community resilience. For many vulnerable young women and PWDs, unemployment creates cycles of economic hardship that can persist for generations. By providing pathways into industrial employment and entrepreneurship, You-RISE equips participants with assets that cannot easily be taken away: skills, confidence, experience, professional networks, and productive capabilities.

The ripple effects are significant: Higher household income; Reduced dependency on aid and social assistance; Increased savings and investment; Better access to healthcare and education; Stronger local economies; Reduced social inequalities. This makes You-RISE not merely a training center but a long-term poverty reduction mechanism.

How You-RISE is advancing Self-Reliance and Economic Independence

One of the most powerful elements of the You-RISE model is its emphasis on entrepreneurship. The initiative recognizes that not every graduate will find formal employment. Instead, many youths can establish enterprises that create jobs and provide industrial services within their communities. We believe on growth, opportunities, and economic advancement. We believe in transition from being job seekers to becoming job creators.

Participants can move from learning technical skills to launching micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in sectors such as: Welding and metal fabrication; Industrial maintenance; Manufacturing and production; Construction support services; Repair and technical services and Women-led industrial enterprises.  This entrepreneurial pathway strengthens self-reliance because individuals gain the ability to generate income independently while contributing to national economic growth.

You-RISE is Championing Inclusive Development

One of the most remarkable aspects of the You-RISE vision is its commitment to inclusion. You-RISA prominently features young women and a person with a disability, reflecting a deliberate effort to ensure that economic transformation leaves no one behind. Historically, technical and industrial sectors have often excluded women and persons with disabilities. You-RISE challenges these stereotypes by positioning these groups at the center of industrial development.

Our approach delivers several benefits: (1) Expanding workforce participation. (2) Increasing gender equality. (3) Creating opportunities for marginalized populations. (4) Reducing economic disparities. (5) Promoting dignity and social inclusion.  By unlocking the talents of groups that are frequently overlooked, Kenya will gain access to a broader pool of innovators, skilled workers, and entrepreneurs.

You-RISE is Supporting Kenya's Industrialization Agenda

Kenya's long-term development aspirations depend on building a competitive industrial sector. Manufacturing, value addition, and local production are essential for creating jobs and reducing reliance on imports. You-RISE contributes directly to this agenda through its focus on: (1) Skills Development by developing technically competent youth who can meet industry demands. (2) Industrial Production through creating hands-on learning opportunities linked to real production activities. (3) Employment and Entrepreneurship through facilitating job placement and business creation. (4) Inclusive Growth through ensuring economic opportunities reach women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Together, these pillars create a strong foundation for industrial growth and economic transformation.

You-RISE is Building Sustainable Development from the Ground Up

Sustainable development is not achieved through temporary interventions. It requires systems that continuously generate economic value while improving people's lives. The You-RISE model is sustainable because it invests in human capital. Skills acquired today can generate income for decades. Businesses created through entrepreneurship can employ others and stimulate local economic activity. Industries fuelled by skilled workers become more productive and competitive. Furthermore, by empowering young people to participate actively in economic development, the initiative contributes to broader national goals including: Decent employment; Economic growth; Gender equality; Reduced inequalities; Sustainable industrialization and Community resilience.  The You-RISE model creates a cycle where learning leads to productivity, productivity leads to income, and income leads to prosperity.

You-RISE Vision for a Skilled, Inclusive and Prosperous Kenya

"A Skilled, Inclusive and Prosperous Kenya," is more than a slogan. It is a development vision. You-RISE Industries Limited demonstrates that unemployment, exclusion, and poverty are not permanent realities. With the right skills, opportunities, and support systems, young people can become the driving force behind Kenya's industrial transformation. By investing in unemployed female and PWD youth, You-RISE is investing in Kenya's future workforce, future entrepreneurs, future innovators, and future economic leaders. It is a practical example of how inclusive industrial development can lift individuals, families, and communities out of poverty while strengthening the nation's economic foundation.

In a country where millions of young people are searching for opportunity, You-RISE is more than a program. It is a pathway to dignity, self-reliance, and sustainable prosperity for generations to come.

Dorcas’s Journey of Dignity and Growth through Women Business Hub - Trade Over Aid (TOA) Initiative

When Dorcas first walked into the Women Business Hub orientation, she carried more than just hope—she carried the weight of responsibility. With two young children depending on her, and a dream of running her own shop, the Ksh 50,000 loan was more than money; it was a lifeline. She remembers the first day vividly: sitting in the financial literacy session, learning how to budget and save. Signing the loan agreement felt like signing a promise to her children—that life would change. With her first tranche of Ksh 15,000 , Dorcas stocked sugar, soap, and maize flour . Each sale was a step closer to dignity. Within weeks, she was repaying faithfully. But more importantly, she was proving to herself that she could manage credit responsibly. When she qualified for the second tranche , Dorcas expanded into farming inputs . Neighbors began to rely on her shop not just for household goods, but for seeds and fertilizer that sustained their families. Her progress report wasn’t just number...

Risper Auma’s Journey: From Street Vendor to Homeowner and Mentor

For over a decade, Risper Auma walked the streets of Kisumu selling fresh vegetables from a woven basket. Each day began before sunrise, and every coin she earned was carefully tucked away—not just for survival, but for a dream. She envisioned a home of her own, a place where her children could grow up with dignity and stability. Risper Auma joined a local savings and credit cooperative society , where she began contributing small amounts weekly. Through discipline and determination, she built up her savings and eventually qualified for a loan. With that support, she purchased a modest piece of land and began building her home—brick by brick, hope by hope. Today, Risper Auma stands proudly in her garden, feeding chickens beside the house she built. Her children are thriving in school, with graduation just around the corner. But Risper Auma’s story doesn’t end with her own success. She is now a community mentor with Women Business Hub , guiding other women through the journe...

Women Business Hub's -Trade Over Aid (TOA) Initiative Progress in 2025

Trade Over Aid (TOA) is Women Business Hub’s practical pathway from aid-dependency to trade-driven dignity. In Kisumu, TOA is implemented in partnership with Inua Village SACCO (IVS) – Kisumu Branch. Women Business Hub leads community mobilization, mentorship, and enterprise training for young women entrepreneurs and non-binary youth, while IVS provides the regulated financial rails: member onboarding, passbooks, share capital, and safe savings channels via mobile money and in-branch services. This partnership operationalizes TOA’s model: mobilize youth cohorts, help them formalize membership (registration and passbooks), build ownership (share capital), and cultivate continuous savings habits aligned to enterprise goals. The SACCO’s cooperative structure protects member funds and fosters disciplined growth; WBH’s mentorship and market-linkages translate that savings into enterprise resilience and revenue. Participation and gender engagement in TOA (Kisumu, Sep–Dec 2025) Between ...
